Welcome! and Thank you for listening. Don't eat that burger, it will destroy your endothelial cells. That statement would make someone plant based immediately; correct? Vaping damages your lungs making you more susceptible to infections. How about high cholesterol is a risk factor for multiple sclerosis as is diabetes and being overweight. That animal fat you are consuming on your cheese pizza is causing the production of TMAO by your gut microbes that will cause inflammation in your blood vessels.
What is a person left to eat? Cardboard? I am living proof as are many others that you can enjoy every meal and still be healthy.
Everyone is in to blaming these days. Blaming others for not being considerate if they don't wear masks and infect those that are immune compromised. Blaming businesses and governments for what they are or are not doing to prevent the current pandemic; SARS-COV-2. Do we blame someone for decreasing the lifespan of someone with cardiovascular disease if they take them to a restaurant that has noting but high fat, high cholesterol food choices. Do we blame someone for the cardiovascular disease death or MI in a person if they bring in high salt, high fat snacks into the house of someone trying to reverse their vascular disease and eating in front of them knowing that most people cannot resist that temptation?
Perhaps we should take back the risk of our life to ourselves. As we age the risk of living increases. Some much quicker than others. But blaming others is not the answer.
Today I discuss why children do better with COVID-19 than adults. I also discuss the need for us to clean up our own house that is full of metabolic waste products that damage our immune system. Eating meat and a high fat diet increases the production of TMAO that is an inflammatory compound involved in the progression of vascular disease. Hypertension and cardiovascular disease is the result of damaged endothelial cells that line the blood vessel. These are also the risk for clotting during an infection with COVID-19. They are reversible through plant based nutrition but it is difficult especially when you are trying to go it alone.
Protecting your family starts at the dinning table. It starts with the food you prepare and purchase. It is the best money you will ever spend on your health.

Welcome! and Thank you for listening. If you are interested in following our running group; Plant Based Striders or joining in for free, head over Plant Based Striders.
This podcast discusses how we can make our general health better in order to decrease the risk of lifestyle diseases or infectious diseases. I also discuss the concept of risk/benefit. We often forget that this concept applies to most aspects of life. We tend to minimize the risk of behaviors and choices that we desire, and maximize the risk of others. There are 660,000 deaths each year from cardiovascular disease. The risk of a heart catheterization is 1% and a bypass up 5-10%. Yet these procedures are done thousands of times each day without even a question of their potential benefit in many cases.
Many people question the use of standard cardiac medications but look at supplements as a magic bullet. I am a firm believer that adult onset diabetes and heart disease can be reversed in most people through nutrition, and I have seen it work. However, I watch daily as intelligent people continue to choose otherwise. The answer? Change is hard. Being an Outlier is hard. I hope you enjoy my discussion of why we need to support and encourage each other and become a we instead of them.

Welcome! and Thank you for listening. This episode features a discussion about the film, Skid Row Marathon. I am joined by the honerable Judge Craig Mitchell, and filmmaker Gabi Hayes.
Judgement is not often associated with compassion, but Judge Mitchell changes all of that. He shares his love of running and his love with the runners at The Midnight Mission in L.A. California. He has been showing up for over 5 years for 5 am runs and long runs with the those in recovery at the Mission. Many former inmates and many still struggling with drug and alcohol recovery, they have found a person that believes in their worthiness as a human. The film takes you into the lives of the runners and Judge Mitchell's tireless efforts to organize and take the runners on an International marathon each year. Please enjoy this interview with the Judge and Gabi about the film. But more importantly, go watch the movie, buy the DVD, share it with others, and even start a running group of your own. If you are out on a walk, run, or bike ride never forget to great your fellow athlete as you pass by. A word of encouragement or a simple smile might just make someone's day.

Welcome! and Thank you for listening!. I am joined by Addie Majnaric, RDN. Plant based nutrition has served her and her newborn, Caleb, well through COVID, pregnancy, delivery and recovery. The baby receives genetic information from mother and father, but also the genes from the mothers microbes. Eating healthy plant based diet benefits both mom and baby.
Caleb was a full term baby weighing 7 lb and 13 ounces. No pulmonary or nasal congestion. His Apgar scores were excellent and the transition to breast feeding was great. Plant strong babies rock!
Are your ready for hurricane season? We will give you some pointers to prepare plant based. There is much less risk of food borne illnesses eating plant based with power outages associated with storms.

Welcome! and Thank you for Listening. Welcome Caleb James to the world at 11:32 pm on Thursday evening. I am so thankful for a healthy grandson, daughter and son in law.
Today's podcast is about putting compassion and common sense back into health care. We had a scare with COVID testing that could have turned out much worse for no sound medical reasoning. After having been in health care in many different settings, I have some observations and suggestions.
Perhaps the theme today is harmony. Let's all just get along. You, me, bacteria, viruses, and every other creature. Yes, I know there is a struggle that is called life, but perhaps we are making it more impersonal and complicated than it needs to be.
Do you like bread? I will share my thoughts.
I rant a little today, but mainly I am grateful for the gift of life. Enjoy!
We have the solution to taking back control over your health and we would love to share it with you. Visit our website at doctordulaney.com
thank you

Welcome! and Thank you for listening. Can you just stop medications? Your doctor may say you can never stop your medications. What if you ask why? Are you an annoying patient because you ask questions or question the answers? These situations lead to distrust and confusion. What is your roll in becoming healthy. Will your risk be decreased if you are plant based.
There could not be a time of more medical confusion or doubt. Who do you trust when there are not any experts. Do we go by what we want to hear or take the worst case scenario?
I encourage you to ask questions and more questions. I encourage you to be the director of your health decisions after you have taken in all of the answers. Remember, I don't know is a valid answer in times like these, and the person who says I don't know may be the most honest in the room.
Enjoy the podcast and remember; wash your hands and be kind to strangers. You do not know their struggles. Go to doctordulaney.com and sign up for our newsletter to get monthly wellness tips and an invitation to our virtual practice tour coming this summer. Email me with questions and by all means get outside and get some sunshine.

Welcome! and Thank you for listening. This episode discusses two ways to improve health. One is through new interventions that may carry unknown risks and limited benefits. The other is a slower approach to health through plant based nutrition and exercise. We have the amazing capacity to heal if we provide our bodies an opportunity and take away offending agents. Time heals all wounds as a wise person once said. But many of us are in a rush. We want things now, and unfortunately forget that bias not only affects us but others in decision making. We fail to ask how and why and assume that it must be ok.
Most of you know that greens improve nitric oxide production. Do greens make us bullet proof? How does exercise improve our health? Can we make a sick heart better? Can our bodies heal if we take away the offending agents? Do you want to be in control of your health or wait on a magic cure?
I believe that we have a lot more control over our health than a lot of people would have you believe. I also think that fear will not contribute positively to our health.
Enjoy the episode. Email me with questions at jami@doctordulaney.com . Visit the website at doctordulaney.com to find out how you can reverse heart disease and maybe even run a marathon.

Welcome! and Thank you for listening. This is a fun episode tying together several of the latest episodes. If you are a golfer you will want to hear why Tiger Woods has back pain and Arnold Palmer had a much longer career. You will understand why Venus Williams grunts during a tennis serve and how mobility may be causing you more harm than good in some cases. Do you slave in the kitchen batch cooking only to order out or end up throwing those frozen concoctions away?
Has COVID made your present and future quality or quantity of life better? Does common sense and compassion vanished in the last few months?
Yes I will give you my perspective on these topics today. Remember it is mine. I hope you also have a perspective, and it does not have to be the same as mine for me to respect you and welcome your emails or comments.
Let's be kind to each other. I am sure it will make the world a better place.
Thank you for listening. I would love for you to share this podcast with your friends. Check out our website to find out how a compassionate wellness medical practice works. We would love to have you on our team.

Jami Dulaney MD Plant Based Wellness Podcast Episode 252 with Jeff Galloway

Welcome! and Thank you for listening. Plant based nutrition gives you a lot of energy. The next step is upping your exercise. The American Heart Association suggests 150 minutes of cardiovascular exercise each week. This is a minimum. In fact there is no amount of exercise that has been shown to decrease cardiac fitness.
Exercise is the best medicine to treat depression and reduce stress. It has even been shown to improve memory. As we age we loose muscle and bone mass often leading to joint instability and failure resulting in a need for replacement. The best way to build muscle and bone is to do weight bearing exercise and running is the perfect fit.
If you have not ran in a while or have told yourself you cannot run, it may just be a perception that has been holding you back.
Today's episode with Jeff Galloway will show you that you can run at any age and even complete a marathon! We discussed his Run Walk Run method that decreases the risk of injury and eases you into running longer and longer distances.
Put your shoes on, and take this episode for a walk or a run, walk, run. If you are interested in learning more or would be interested in a plant based running weekend. Key points:
Create proximal stiffness to improve distal power. Training should give more than it takes away. Today's society sits too much and walks too little. Strategic stiffness is key to healthy and improved performance.
