Welcome and Thank You for listening! Today's episode is a preview of Saturday's live audio conference. Our world has had some radical change recently with COVID-19. We are facing new health worries on top of chronic diseases. With that comes new decisions about our future health. Who is ultimately responsible for our safety and health? The ability to alter the genomes of viruses, bacteria and humans is here. Along the way, these advances have lead to some life saving medications and techniques, but they have also had some very negative results. Understanding the importance of how these new discoveries can affect your future health choices is very important. Genes, environment, and chance all play a role.
Take control of your own health now. I'll give you a few suggestions on this episode. Tune in Saturday for a much more focused live discussion. You will have the opportunity to ask questions.
For those who sign up, we will send you our recipes for the live conferences, the slides presented, and you will have the opportunity to listen at your convenience to the recorded version.

Welcome and Thank you for listening. COVID-19 is still on my mind. It is the first time we have had to confront a significant mortality risk from an infectious disease. Our ability to fight infection rests with our current state of health. Diabetes and hypertension as well as other lifestyle diseases are significant risk factors for having a weakened immune system and a potentially more difficult time fighting off COVID-19.
Today is the day to prepare for the social distancing and potential quarantining by gathering needed supplies. It is also a time to take control of your lifestyle diseases. Eating plant strong, avoiding processed foods, animal products, and oils is key to boosting your immune system as well as reversing lifestyle diseases. Let's make the world a healthier place. Start today at home by fixing healthy plant strong meals and getting some exercise. Each day is an opportunity to get healthier.
Our livestream audio conference is still on for March 28, 2020. We will stream live lectures and have a Q and A session. The conference will be recorded for viewing at your convenience for a month. Lecture slides will be distributed so that you can follow along. Recipes for the meals we were going to serve will also be emailed. Go on over to doctordulaney.com and reserve your ticket now or go to Eventbrite.com and get your ticket to the 2020 Plant Based Audio Conference. Email me at Jami@doctordulaney.com with questions.
As always thank you for listening. Be Plant Strong and Be Healthy.

Welcome! and Thank you for listening. Are you hunkered down worried about COVID-19? Are you at risk? Can you prepare? It is a great time to be plant strong. Are we bullet proof? Of course not. But plant strong immune competent people can take a viral attack much better than fast food, meat eating, immunodeficient folks.
Can you exercise too much or too hard? What do you think I will say?
I will discuss these things and a few other pearls on this episode. I would love to meet you in person. Join us March 28, 2020 for a full day of plant strong wellness with speakers, great plant based breakfast and lunch, cooking demonstrations, and much more. Welcome, and Thank you for listening!. This episode is a recap of the Austin Marathon. One of my facinations about running long distance is it's correlation to life. You prepare and plan, but you really do not know what is coming until you actually begin to experience it. We can control control for some variables, but often the context changes making that preparation less than adequate. Life, like a marathon can throw you some curve balls. But, we have a choice as to how we respond, and we get to use that information in the future. Spoiler alert, I finished the marathon in 4 hours and 34 minutes, smiling.
Taking a look at your current health status and invoking a change requires daily practice and mindfulness. It is quite easy to fall back into familiar ways. Sometimes we have to be patient and allow our bodies to adjust. Other times, we need to get our head out of the way and just push through. That sounds a lot like training and racing a marathon. It is all pretty simple on paper, but the implementation can be quite tricky.
When you run a marathon with thousands of people running and cheering on the sidelines, you are pulled by the energy of the crowd. You want to push hard to compete with those running and push hard not to disappoint the spectators cheering with all their hearts. It makes running 26.2 a lot easier than running by yourself. The same can be said for changing your health status and nutrition. It is a lot easier when you have support and guidance.
I would like to invite you to a marathon of health education. If you want a week long training session with us, sign up for our immersion vacation beginning March 23, 2020. Each day will be filled with exercise, nutrition education, cooking education and health evaluation and planning. The goal is to give you the tools to continue your health training program when you get home. The event culminates in our Fifth Annual Charlotte County Plant Based Nutrition Conference, March 28, 2020. It is an all day event of speakers, education and networking. You will leave motivated, energetic, and full of ideas on how to continue to improve your health. Go to doctordulaney.com and click the link to sign up. Welcome! and Thank you for listening. Today I have two guests, Nannette Rogers and Julie Kermond. They are both teachers, but now they do their work outside of the classroom. It this does not inspire you, then you need to take a walk and listen again. Nannette is 84 and Julie is 76. They are plant strong marathon runners. They are athletes. They do yoga and Zumba as well. They share their plant based stories and their food with others as a means to positively educate.
My take aways from this episode are: the power of the group, the power of positive thought, age defines nothing, only the stories we tell ourselves can limit us, and paying it forward is the key to personal satisfaction.
If you would like a day or a week in an environment with people like Nannette and Julie, join us for the Fifth Annual Charlotte County Plant Based Nutrition Conference in Port Charlotte, Florida. You can register at doctordulaney.com. Email me at jami@doctordulaney.com with any questions.
As Nannette says, "Today is going to be the best day ever!"

Welcome! and Thank you for listening. Everything we need for optimal health and wellness, we can get from plants. We can grow plants sustainably and compassionately, as well as being able to provide enough food for all. Plants make flavonoids as protection for themselves. They can't run from predators such as bugs, worms and poisons. When we consume plants we get their defense mechanisms in the form of anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds as well as anti-bacterial and anti-viral compounds.
There is a lot of confusing information about nutrition. Just because we can survive for a while eating poor food choices does not make them optimal. Our choices come at a cost to us and to our environment.
Eat simply and humanely. Eat plants.
Join us March 28, 2020 for our Fifth Annual Plant Based Nutrition Conference. Better yet, spend a week with us beginning March 23 -28 to kick start your journey to becoming healthy and fit. Welcome! and Thank you for listening. Addie Majnaric RDN and I ran the Houston Half Marathon this past weekend. She is 22 weeks pregnant and feeling great. Some would think eating plant based is not a good idea during pregnancy let alone running half marathons. In reality being pregnant is not a disease, but it is a time to optimize the mother's health for her sake and the sake of the baby. There are reports of running a marathon in the last few weeks of pregnancy but changes in ligaments and and joints tend to make the last trimester not that comfortable for running. If you are not a runner, then pregnancy is not really the time to start. But, a walking program is an excellent idea. A plant based diet is an excellent way to get the needed fiber to develop a good microbial system in mom and her child. A baby receives more genes from the mother than father because of microbe genes. Junk food, low fiber diet leads to a microbe population that may be associated with more inflammation. We will talk about this and much more.
Exciting times are just around the corner. Join Addie and I for a Wellness Immersion vacation March 23-28, 2020 in sunny southwest Florida. It will be a fun filled week of plant based education, cooking, and exercise. There will be private consultations with both of us and hands on cooking technique experiences. It is a great time of year in Florida, so make your reservations now by going to doctordulaney.com and signing up.

Welcome! and Thank you for listening. I have been running marathons for over 19 years. I have displayed my finishers medals and shirts in my office as a way to motivate my members on the importance of exercise. I have a few members that have run marathons, but I cannot claim any of their motivation. My thinking has been that if I can, anyone can. This week a study came out to support that thought and take it a step further. Running and training for a marathon can actually improve the function of your aorta. The aorta becomes more elastic; in essence running a marathon makes one's aorta younger.
Just think of the possibilities of training for a marathon and eating plant based! The blood vessels will be bathed in nitric oxide turning the clock back even further making them even more elastic and healthy.
But, if we eat a perfect plant based diet and exercise only to have toxins from the environment rain down on us and infect the very air we breathe, we are still being harmed. I am talking about our environmental problem with plastics. I invite you to look at the plastic that you discard in a single day. The cling wrap, produce bags, plastic vegetable cartons. It is massive. In this podcast I will share some things that I am going to improve in 2020 and give you some ideas on how you can become more healthy by reducing your plastic waste.
I would love to meet you! Go to doctordulaney.com and sign up for our Fifth Annual Charlotte County Plant Based Nutrition Conference, March 28, 2020. Join us for a Whole Week at our Immersion Program. This is a great way to accelerate your movement to optimal health and wellness. We will personally be exercising with you each day, doing private consultations with myself and Addie Majnaric, RDN, along with daily nutritional education and cooking demonstrations. You can even meet the Diva!!

Welcome! and Thank you for listening! There are many naysayers about plant based nutrition. One frequently sited reason is there are few supporting studies. Not only is that false but there are less and less studies supporting traditional medicine as the best option for lifestyle diseases. Nutrition and exercise remain the only methods to reverse lifestyle diseases. Sure medicines allow people to live with their illness, but they continue to decline.
This episode highlights a few of the head turning studies this year in the medical community. I will also give you a glimpse into my holiday food and activities. Enjoy.
High fructose corn syrup linked to increased colon cancer leading to a significant rise in colon cancer in young people
Eating an egg daily can significantly increase your risk for cardiovascular disease and all death from all causes.
Genetic risk for dementia does not increase the risk for actual dementia in those living a healthy lifestyle.
High sodium intake such as that seen in the standard diet increases the risk for gastric cancer.
What do you plan to do in 2020 to improve your health? I will share some of my goals for 2020.
Thanks for joining me. Go to doctordulaney.com to sign up for our newsletter, get your tickets for our plant based nutrition conference, and sign up for our immersion week. Email me at jami@doctordulaney.com with questions. It is time to improve your health span.
