Run 100 kilometers on a plant based diet ? Yes that is what Jim Gray does. And he runs without migraines that he used to get eating the Standard American Diet. No fancy food just plants. Watermelon, dates and bananas to run long. No protein shakes or pizzas with cheese. No hypertension anymore either after taking BP pills for decades. Teenage kids are no problem in Jim's house when it comes to plant based nutrition. What more can a parent do to assure healthy children. Amazing. Enjoy my interview with Jim Gray, an everyday inspiration.

I had the opportunity to speak at the South Carolina Academy of Family Practice in Hilton Head, South Carolina last weekend. There were some plant based doctors that were happy to be supported. The others were very receptive to the concept of food as medicine. At least they were receptive to food could be the reason for disease. I believe we as physicians need to reclaim our role in the community as teachers of health and wellness as opposed to pusher of the latest pharmaceutical discovery. By educatng we can empower people to take control of their health which makes us all feel good. No brainer.

I am an endurance athlete. Not an Olympian or a "contender". A middle of the pack marathon runner and triathlete. That does not mean I do not have the desire to improve or become faster. Nor does it mean I use age as an excuse. To the contrary I need to push to stay ahead of that downhill curve people say is coming. Not yet. I think it is like everything else we set goal that we do not alway achieve but that does not make them unworthy of the effort. The same goes for nutrtiion. Try to make each day a little better.

It really is not that easy. If it were more people would be plant based. There are certainly obstacles and some may live in the same household. Be brave. Choose health. Stay strong. I enjoy every plant strong meal. Not only because they are nutrient dense but because they taste good. Experiment maybe one time per week and keep the good recipes that your family enjoy. Try a new vegetable or fruit each week. Check out Instagram for some healthy meals. The winner this week for me was eggplant bacon. I never really cared for pork bacon but this has a really good flavor.

Welcome to episode 77!. Just me this episode. It is Memorial Day Weekend. A time to honor the fallen and remember their sacrafice for us. It is also a time of gathering friends and neighbors for cookouts. That means grilling for the masses. And a scary time to be plant based, potentially. But fear not there are plant based salads that would turn a carnivores head and Riblets! Seitan riblets on the grill and veges on the grill. Corn in the husk with red pepper sauce for dipping. Giant fruit salads. The best of both worlds. Eating til full but not feeling poorly because of the nutrient density of the food. I give you some insight to day one of my nutrition class and we discuss some dishes I have been enjoying. Contact me with questions at jamidulaney@gmail.com or doctordulaney.com.

Welcome. Tonight I invite you to sit in on my office nutrition class graduation night. It is the 6th and final session for this class. Some students are seasoned plant strong cooks and others are just learning the why and how of eating plant strong. I am always happy with the way the classes support and encourage each other. Plant strong pearls are acquired as well as plant strong friendships. The students get healthier in mind and body. The class is certainly my favorite time of the day. I hope you enjoy the interactions. The sound is not perfect but I believe the points come across. If you would like to contact me a jamidulaney@gmail.com, I would love to hear from you. "Share goodwill with others". That is exactly what preparing a whole plant food nutrient dense meal is doing for your friends and family. Heart disease is the number one cause of death and entirely preventable.
